Overview
There is a big new release coming up for the Creative Studio, where we will move from Studio 3 to Studio 4 on a new URL. The largest changes will be in our Editor tool, which will be called the Fluid Ad Creator. Most of the changes are to how things look and are shown or used in the tool, not to our feature set or to how our ads work.
Any running campaigns should be managed to the end in Studio 3 (app2.responsiveads.com).
All creatives and templates built in Studio 3 are accessible in Studio 4. They will be first migrated to the new Fluid Ad Creator when the “Migrate” button is clicked in the Creatives Page. This process always creates a completely new duplicate of the Studio 3 creative, not corrupting or changing the creative in any way. It is safe to migrate even live creatives, for new campaign designs or to test Studio 4 Fluid Ad Creator, but the live campaign in Studio 3 must be managed there to the end.
Start your transition to Studio 4 by first evaluating the benefits and how well the current, more limited, feature set supports your needs. Then, request Studio 4 access for your Designers, and invite them to log in at studio.responsiveads.com
As creatives made in Studio 4 are only visible there, any ads designed in Studio 4 need to be previewed and published through Studio 4. Bring your ad ops team into Studio 4 when you are ready to start exporting or deploying your creatives there.
To make it easy to transition for our clients, we created this walkthrough document outlining all the changes.
We will be updating the Studio 4 environment every few weeks with more improvements and activating currently disabled features as we update and test them.
Creatives and Templates - changes
Creatives need to be migrated from Studio 3 to work in Studio 4. This is why we have separated Studio 4 creatives and Studio 3 creatives and templates to their own tabs on their respective pages.
Dashboard & New Creatives
Starting a new creative is different in Studio 4 and Studio 3. We have separated the flow between starting from a template (you will begin designing your creative with a predefined list of elements laid out for you) and starting from a blank canvas (the Fluid Ad Creator opens with only mandatory selections for formats etc defined) .
When you select the “New Creative” flow, you will have one step less to fill in. You need to set a name, select the format you want to use, and then define the tags to identify your creative.
If you want to use a template, you need to pick a template to use from the Templates tab. Use either the link on the NavBar to see all your available templates, or use the Quick Access block on the Dashboard to get there. The flow after that will be very similar to the flow for a new creative, except the format selection is also skipped (the template will specify the format).
The Creatives Page
You will first see the All tab, containing your Studio 3 creatives and any creatives we may have migrated for you to Studio 4.
Find all your creatives built in Studio 3 on the corresponding tab.
Any creatives built in Studio 3 show up with a different set of UI controls.
- “Migrate” will duplicate the creative and migrate the duplicate to be fully compatible for the new Fluid Ad Creator. Both creatives will show up in the “All” list after migration finishes.
- “Preview” will show the Preview Page for the creative in Studio 3
- “Manage in Studio 3” will open the Summary Page in Studio 3
- There is no information about whether the creative is published etc, as this type of creative can not be published or showcased in Studio 4. Also the three dots for more actions are hidden, as these actions are only available in Studio 3 for this creative.
Studio 4 content is identified with a small blue tag, in addition to the tab it is showing in. All of the normal Creative actions are available for Studio 4 creatives in Studio 4.
When you first open Studio 4, the tabs for Studio 4 content may be empty. Any creatives edited or created in Studio 4 will show up here.
The Templates Page
The Templates page allows you to see and use templates from both Studio 4 and Studio 3.
The Fluid Ad Creator (new editor) - Changes

Most of what used to be a “right panel” is now moved to the left.

There is a new right panel with 2 tabs: Design and Setup.
- In Design tab you design how an ad looks, settings applied to only one selected size
- In Setup tab you setup how an ad works, settings applied to all sizes
- If nothing is selected - tabs show entire creative settings (one size / all sizes)
- If you select an element - tabs will show element settings (one size / all sizes)
- When no element in the ad is selected:
- Under Design tab you can see selected size creative settings:
- Guidelines (they moved here from the top bar);
- Align tools (will become active once you click on any element);
- Weight:
- Tagging of large creatives with PRO and ADVANCED
- indication of what size in the format is selected
- and its K-weight information
- Elements section gives you more information on which elements are contributing to the k-weight of this size, and allows you to jump over to element settings to adjust the rendition used if you wish
- Border (for the whole creative)
- Default is still “None”
- Select what kind of border you want and define the color and thickness
- Under Setup tab you can find familiar all sizes creative settings in a slightly different order:
- Creative notes
- Image rendition and optimization
- Deployment settings
When an element is selected:
- Under Design tab you can now see all selected size element settings most of which used to be on the top bar (different elements have different settings)
Note that there is the option to change opacity for every element (in addition to show in / hide from size)
“Overflow” (Size section) controls settings for scroll and cropping child elements
- Under Setup tab you will see familiar all sizes element settings that used to be “Extra element settings” (setup once to work for all sizes)
1. Canvas
We have updated the Canvas with a sleeker look and the possibility to move your ad layout around on it. Please give us feedback on these changes!
There are few additions to the tools on canvas on the bottom of a selected element:
- Copy element settings - now you select an element and right next to it you can select to copy its local settings to other sizes
- Next to it is a new button to toggle between new Design tab and Setup tab, showing you either selected size or all sizes (global) settings for the element as you work on it
2. Navbar
There are several changes to the navbar, it now includes functionalities:
- Creative name and ability to change it
- PRO and ADVANCED tags to show when your creative is heavy and may incur higher billing
- “Last saved” timestamp moved next to the Save button
- Summary button added next to the Preview (replaced “Deploy & Track”)
- Question “?” button added where you can access all help and resources links, including shortcuts popup (that used to be in the left hand panel).
3. Animation timeline
The animation timeline has been rebuilt with a new UI. This means that it is smoother to use and more reliable than the previous version.
In the June Launch of Studio 4, the Animation timeline is used similarly to the previous version, but there are a few changes.
- Elements need to be added explicitly to the Animation from the icon.
- Select the key icon or double click in the timeline to add a key
- No more key frame pop-up. Values are changed on the top bar.
- You can not change the design or set up of elements while you are editing your timeline.
- You can however put the animation timeline section down without turning off the animation timeline, to get access to editing the original state of the ad. This way you are able to make changes without losing the animation you have set up
